i had to either wait until i get home to upload it to my iphone. I used to be really frustrated when i decided to buy a new album (itunes is not available on my country) and i wasn't at home. now every time you upload new music to your iphone and your itunes library files are modified, they will be automatically synced to all your other computers when you turn them on. Select "select library" and open the one that's inside your dropbox folder (it should be something like 50kb) Now every time you want to add music from a new different machine, you just need to do this once:ĭownload dropbox, install wherever you want and log in. Put your music back on your phone as you normally do. it will ask you to create or select a library.Ĭhoose "create library" and select your dropbox folder as the destination folder.Ĭonnect your iphone and set it to manual mode. Hold Option (or Shift on windows) and open iTunes again. we're going to start from scratch so make sure you have all the music on this computer.Ĭlose iTunes. Go to the machine you normally add music. only your 50kb or so itunes library folder. It involves using just iTunes and dropbox but it does not involve uploading your music collection. I think i found the best and simplest way to manually manage music AND add music from different machines without having to carry your whole collection all over the place and resyncing every single damn time you want to add new music on a different machine. I just kept reading complaints from people who lost all of their music when updating to iOS 5 because of apples server issues and a setup like this would completely eliminate that problem. Last but not least with the new iOS things like automatic WiFi sync will become far more valuable if you can just add music to a playlist, fall asleep, and when you wake up it is synced across your devices etc. but you don't have to worry about loading it to the device and next time you sync it will automatically appear on your device. Lastly it lets you add the music to the playlist whenever you want or first listen to it etc. It also allows you to track play counts on both phone and iTunes and things like artwork, star rating, and song details will always change across both devices when changed manually for any reason.
This allows you all of the freedoms of manually and meticulously organizing your music but allows all of the automation to easily re-sync if you have to update or restore your device ever as the playlist is saved. Step #3: Manually manage said playlist in the same way you would have managed your music. Step #2: Choose to auto Sync music but only select playlists, artists, and genres and only select the new playlist to be sync'd.
Step #1: Make a playlist called iPhone or iPod etc. Here's a suggestion you may or may not have thought of:
